Response to WOW - a poem

As a small child I was much in awe

When first I walked in through the door

Of a house filled with monstrous statues golden

To the feather duster they were much beholden

It wasn't a museum but rather

Just the home of my grandfather

A statue of Buddha in the hall

Made me want to run and bawl

Now in middle age it seems as if

The teachings of Buddha are a gift

To better our enjoyment and verve for life

And keep our world well safe from strife
