Lying in the demi-dark,

I become acquainted,

with the shape of your back.

There’s more than one

screw loose, in

the bed,

my head.

What I really want

is to lean over,

read your skin with my fingertips

and inhale you,

deeply.

Instead

I will watch you breathe,

admire, perversely

the shape of your lips,

and wonder why

the curtains,

are too small

for the window.
